I first came under the spell of Chinoiserie when I was at a small town in France on the way to Epernay. This throw-back little café going back to the early 1920’s had survived the great war, and it’s fine walls had been painted in a fine Chinoiserie style in red and black.
The blue and red classic Chinoiserie has become a global phenomenon – it first made its way to the west through the silk routes, and then through West-East mercantile. This fine example of a blue and red style with an imposing red dragon is truly spectacular.
Our chinoiserie products are crafted based on traditional production techniques. These techniques result in each piece being unique, and minor variations in the glaze, color tones, and other aesthetic elements are normal. Certain of our chinoiserie has an aged appearance which is intentionally part of the overall aesthetic and not a defect or flaw in the production process.
